Titans go 3-0 at home duals

The Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire wrestling team was dominant at home on Tuesday, Dec. 20, earning a trio of dual meet wins over North Union, West Bend-Mallard and Northwood-Kensett.
The Titans defeated the Warriors 70-9, the Wolverines 70-6, and the Vikings 57-18.
In their first dual of the night against North Union, the Titans picked up wins from Treyton Cacek, Spencer Roth, Beau Schany, Blake Miller, Nate Harris, Lucas Hoffman and Brett Triggs.

Titans split with East Sac County

The Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire girls and boys basketball teams split a Twin Lakes Conference doubleheader with East Sac County Friday in Ruthven.
The GT/RA girls got back on the winning track after suffering their first loss of the season in a non-conference road trip to Milford, as the Titans defeated the Raiders 58-40 at home to improve to 7-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference.

Pioneers split road duals

The Okoboji wrestling team split a pair of duals Thursday evening in Inwood, as the Pioneers topped host West Lyon 51-20 and fell to Central Lyon/George-Little Rock 63-12.

Indians take 2 at Williamsburg

The Spirit Lake girls and boys basketball teams picked up a non-conference sweep during a long road trip to Williamsburg on Monday night, as the girls topped the Raiders 64-20 and the boys won 49-32.
Anna Brown finished with 24 points to lead the Spirit Lake girls to victory. Carly Hassel had eight points and Macy Smith had seven for the Indians, who improved to 4-2 overall on the year.

Pioneers swept by Rock Valley

The Okoboji boys and girls basketball teams were swept at home by Rock Valley on Tuesday, Dec. 13, as the Pioneers girls fell 63-54 and the boys lost 89-63.
In the girls' half of the doubleheader, Okoboji and Rock Valley battled to a 13-13 tie after one quarter. The Pioneers made the first move in the second quarter, pulling ahead by eight before a three-pointer at the buzzer by Rock Valley senior Cassie Van Beek cut the deficit to 34-29 at the break.

Wolves split doubleheader at MMC-RU

The Harris-Lake Park girls and boys basketball teams split a War Eagle Conference doubleheader hosted by Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn/Remsen-Union on Tuesday, Dec. 13. The girls lost 48-35 and the boys picked up their first win of the season with a 50-35 victory over the Royals.
The Harris-Lake Park girls fell behind 13-9 after one and trailed 28-18 at the break in their loss to MMC-RU.

Branstad agrees to serve as Trump's ambassador to China, Reynolds to become Iowa's 1st female governor

Prior to his scheduled visit to Iowa Thursday by President-elect Donald Trump, it was announced that Gov. Terry Branstad has accepted the incoming commander in chief's offer to assume the role of ambassador to China. On Friday, the Spirit Lake boys basketball team defeated perennial power Western Christian for the first time in the program's history, as the unranked Indians defeated the top-ranked (2A) Wolfpack 64-59 in front of the Spirit Lake faithful.

Indians remain unbeaten with win over Midgets

The Spirit Lake boys basketball team didn't experience any letdown whatsoever following their first ever win over Western Christian on Friday, as the Indians dominated Estherville Lincoln Central 69-46 on the road Tuesday to improve to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the Lakes Conference.
The Indians got out to a 10-0 start and never looked back.

Spirit Lake girls drop third straight

After starting the season 3-0, the Spirit Lake girls basketball team hit a road block in the Lakes Conference with losses to fourth-ranked Cherokee (3A), third-ranked Western Christian (2A) and, on Tuesday, a road loss to unranked Estherville Lincoln Central.

Titans sweep Rebels, Warriors in dual meet action

The Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire wrestling team picked up two more dual meet wins on Tuesday, as the Titans defeated Sioux Central 69-12 and Alta-Aurelia 60-21 at a meet hosted by the Warriors.
Against Sioux Central, the Titans picked up wins from Monte Matthews, Kolton Roth, Beau Schany and Carter Murray.

Pioneers hand Titans their first loss

Okoboji handed the Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire girls basketball team its first loss of the season on Monday, as the Pioneers came from behind to win 47-41 to snap a six-game Titans winning streak.

Indians sweep Midgets, Wolfpack

The Spirit Lake Park wrestling team picked up a pair of Lakes Conference dual meet wins on Thursday, as the Indians topped Western Christian 58-15 and Estherville Lincoln Central 49-30 in front of their home crowd.
The Indians suffered just two losses against the Wolfpack, while Daniel Trucksess, Koltyn Bradley, Dakota VanderWilt, Dakoda Powell and Adam Skopec each delivered victories.

Pioneers host Hawks, Warriors in home duals

The Okoboji wrestling team split a pair of duals at home on Thursday, as the Pioneers defeated Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn 51-27 after falling by a lone point to Sioux Center, 40-39.

Titan wrestlers win trio of duals at Pocahontas

The Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire wrestling team picked up three big Twin Lakes Conference dual wins Thursday night at a meet hosted by Pocahontas Area, as the Titans Southeast Valley, South Central Calhoun and the host Indians on the night.

Titans place 3rd at Sibley tourney

The Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshrie wrestling team placed third at a tournament hosted by Sibley-Ocheyedan over the weekend, as Kolton Roth led the Titans with their only individual champion at the tournament.
Roth, ranked second in Class 1A, received a pair of byes in the first two rounds of the tournament, before reeling off three straight pins en route to the championship.
