EASY BREEZY: Indians softball bashes Braves on windy night in Spirit Lake

A stiff wind blew in from left field at the Spirit Lake High School softball stadium Monday night, but it wasn’t enough to slow the Indians in a Lakes Conference clash with Cherokee. The Indians bashed the Braves 10-0 in Spirit Lake.

Cornwall fans a dozen in Indians’ loss to Braves

Despite a dozen strikeouts by starting pitcher Jake Cornwall, Spirit Lake’s baseball team struggled in a decisive Lakes Conference home loss to Cherokee on Monday, June 20. The Braves blasted the Indians 14-3 in Spirit Lake.

Warriors plate 3 late, defeat Pioneers in Milford

Wednesday night's baseball battle between Okoboji and Sioux Center was neck-and-neck headed to the final frame. However, the Warriors were able to push three runs across in the top half of the seventh and hold the Pioneers scoreless in the bottom half to salt away a 5-2 victory in Milford.

Pioneers drop home game to No. 11 Sioux Center

Okoboji’s softball team dropped a home contest to Siouxland Conference rival Sioux Center on Wednesday, June 15. The 11th-ranked (3A) Warriors defeated the Pioneers 13-0 in Milford.

“Sioux Center hit well against us,” Okoboji coach Kate Perrin said. “Again, we struggled to get our offense going and had too many errors, allowing them to get extra runners on base for runs.”

Pioneers drop road game to West Lyon

Okoboji’s baseball team struggled in a Siouxland Conference road loss to West Lyon on Monday, June 20. The Wildcats defeated the Pioneers 11-0 in Larchwood.

“Just struggled in every aspect tonight,” Okoboji coach Rory Marra said. “We had one total base runner. We continued to struggle defensively with routine plays. They took it to us.”
