Pioneers place 4th at Nighthawk Relays

Okoboji’s girls track team earned a fourth-place finish at the 2022 Nighthawk Relays held Friday, April 30 at Boyden-Hull High School in Hull. The Pioneers collected six top-three finishes, including one championship, and totaled 71 points at Hesla Field.

SLP-O boys soccer earns second straight victory

After a rough four-match stretch, the Spirit Lake Park-Okoboji boys soccer team evened its overall record with a 3-1 road win over West Sioux on Thursday, April 28. SLP-O defeated the Falcons 3-1 in Hawarden to improve to 4-4 on the season.

SL-O girls tennis earns road win over Spencer

The Spirit Lake-Okoboji girls tennis team earned a convincing Lakes Conference road win over Spencer on Thursday, April 28. SL-O topped the Tigers 6-3 in Spencer.

“Spencer is a very strong team top to bottom and going in I knew we would have to play well to win the meet,” SL-O coach Bob O’Hara said. “I was proud of the way the girl’s rose to the occasion.”

Indians defeat Braves at Brooks Golf

Spirit Lake’s boys golf team earned a nine-stroke home win over Lakes Conference foe Cherokee Thursday, April 28. The Indians carded a 170 and the Braves carded a 179 at Brooks Golf.

Spirit Lake’s Max Jones was the runner-up medalist at the meet with his round of 41. Spencer Robinson (41), Josh Jackson (43) and Isaac Early (45) rounded out the Indians’ scoring.

Indians edge Braves in Lakes Conference golf

Spirit Lake’s girls golf team earned a Lakes Conference road win over Cherokee on Thursday, April 28. The Indians edged the Braves 227-234 at Cherokee Country Club.

“This golf course was a grind,” Spirit Lake coach Parker Mulder said. “It was a very different type of course than what our girls are used to. I'm proud of them for how they battled despite some higher scores than what they have been used to.”

Okoboji boys golf places 9th at Sheldon

Okoboji’s boys golf team placed ninth at a Siouxland Conference meet held Thursday, April 28 at Sheldon. The Pioneers carded a 213 at Sheldon Country Club.

“Not the results we wanted as a team at this point in the season,” Okoboji coach Ryan Moretz said. “We know what we need to work on.”

Okoboji girls golf places 5th at The Ridge

Okoboji’s girls golf team carded a combined score of 207 to place fifth at a Siouxland Conference meet hosted by Sioux Center on Thursday, April 28. Central Lyon won the meet at The Ridge.

“Our team is playing well,” Okoboji coach Jeremy Wollenburg said. “If we can get everyone to play well at the same time, we’ll be right at the top of the Siouxland Conference.”

Harris-Lake Park boys golf falls to South O’Brien

Harris-Lake Park’s boys golf team dropped a War Eagle Conference road match to South O’Brien on Thursday, April 28. The Wolverines defeated the Wolves 178-199 in Primghar.

Lucas Ahrenstorff and Braydan Perkins both carded rounds of 45 to place third for the Wolves. Carter Hibma  (52) and Landon Greve (57) rounded out Harris-Lake Park’s scoring. Chayce Forbes carded a 60 on the day.

Harris-Lake Park’s girls golf team came up short in a War Eagle Conference meet with South O’Brien on Thursday, April 28. The Wolverines topped the Wolves 212-224 in Primghar.

The Spirit Lake-Okoboji girls tennis team earned a pair of wins over Cherokee on Tuesday, April 26. The two teams squared off in a doubleheader after their previous meeting was postponed because of weather. The Indians defeated the Braves 7-2 and 6-3 at Speier Park in Okoboji.

Spirit Lake’s boys golf team earned a win over Algona but fell to Estherville Lincoln Central at a meet held Tuesday, April 26. The Indians carded a 180 on the day. Algona carded a 203 and ELC carded a 166 at Estherville Golf Course.

Harris-Lake Park’s boys golf team earned a victory over Trinity Christian but fell to Gehlen Catholic at a War Eagle Conference triangular meet held Tuesday, April 26 in Le Mars. The Jays carded a 182 while the Wolves shot a 212 and the Tigers shot a 221 on the day.

Harris-Lake Park’s girls golf team dropped a War Eagle Conference meet to Gehlen Catholic on Tuesday, April 26. The Jays topped the Wolves 210-222 in Le Mars.

Rylie Wittrock led the Wolves with a runner-up medalist round of 47. Zella Ingham placed third with her round of 52. Tessa Gunderson (61) and Miranda Christenson (62) rounded out the Wolves’ scoring. Madeline Greve carded a 68 for Harris-Lake Park.

Okoboji boys golf places 7th at Rock Rapids

Okoboji’s boys golf team placed seventh at a Siouxland Conference meet held Tuesday, April 26 at Rock Rapids. The Pioneers carded a combined round of 190 at Rock River Golf & Country Club.

Mason Dahms led Okoboji with his round of 44. RJ Kalsow (45), Koleton Simington (48) and Coen Rabel (53) rounded out the Pioneers’ team score. Ryan Pile carded a 56 and Elliot Tuttle carded a 58 for Okoboji.
