Spirit Lake girls golf wins Lakes Conference crown

Spirit Lake’s girls golf team secured a Lakes Conference championship Monday at the conference tournament played in Spencer. The Indians carded a combined round of 403 to top Spencer (411), Cherokee (456), Western Christian (459), Storm Lake (472) and Estherville Lincoln Central (479).

SLP-O boys soccer earns road win over Unity Christian

The Spirit Lake Park-Okoboji boys soccer team earned a hard-fought road win over Unity Christian on Monday, May 9. SLP-O defeated the Knights 3-2 in Orange City.

Kalsow leads Boji boys at home golf meet

Okoboji’s RJ Kalsow enjoyed a little home cooking at a Siouxland Conference boys golf meet played Monday, May 9 at Emerald Hills Golf Course in Arnolds Park.

Kalsow carded a 40 to place fourth at the Pioneers’ home meet and led Okoboji to a fifth-place team finish. Mason Dahms (47), Koleton Simington (50) and Coen Rabel (52) rounded out the Pioneers’ scoring. Elliot Tuttle carded a 57 and Camden DeVos carded 64 for Okoboji.

Okoboji girls golf places 3rd at Otter Valley Country Club

Okoboji’s girls golf team placed third at a Siouxland Conference meet hosted by George-Little Rock on Monday, May 9. The Pioneers carded a combined round of 206 at Otter Valley Country Club.

Zoey Smith-Stecker carded the low round for the Pioneers with a 49. Lily Miller (50), Karli Fife (52) and Morgan Elwood (55) rounded out Okoboji’s scoring. Grace Booth carded a 57 and Jaelyn Jostand carded a 60 for the Pioneers.

Harris-Lake Park boys golf squad places 9th at conference meet

Harris-Lake Park’s boys golf team placed ninth at the War Eagle Conference tournament held Monday, May 9 at Sioux Center. The Wolves combined to card a 417 at The Ridge Golf Course.

Braydan Perkins shot an 18-hole round of 88 to finish in a tie for 9th and earn First Team All-War Eagle Conference honors.

Wolves boys track competes at Sioux Central

Harris-Lake Park’s boys track team competed in its final regular season meet Monday, as the Wolves made the trek south to Sioux Rapids to take part in the Sioux Central Co-Ed Invitational.

The Wolves had five top-five finishes on the day.

Tyler Jurva won the discus title. Devin Meyer placed second in the 400-meter hurdles. Dom Jutting placed fourth in the 100-meter dash.

The Spirit Lake Park-Okoboji boys soccer squad earned a weekend win over Sergeant Bluff-Luton. SLP-O defeated the Warriors 4-1 Saturday at home.

SL-O girls tennis goes 1-1 at Spencer tournament

The Spirit Lake-Okoboji girls tennis team participated in a tournament hosted by Spencer over the weekend. The squad went 1-1 on the day, defeating Sergeant Bluff-Luton but falling to Spencer.

SLP-O girls soccer drops road match to Le Mars

The Spirit Lake Park-Okoboji girls soccer team dropped a road match to Le Mars on Friday, May 6. The Bulldogs topped SLP-O 6-2 in Le Mars.

SLP-O battled back from an early 1-0 deficit, as Dani Christoffels connected in the 17th minute and Maddy Waterhouse connected in the 23rd minute to give the visitors a 2-1 lead. However, the Bulldogs reeled off five unanswered goals to pull ahead for the victory.

SL-O girls tennis dominates Midgets in Estherville

The Spirit Lake-Okoboji girls tennis team earned a dominant Lakes Conference road win over Estherville Lincoln Central on Thursday, May 5. SL-O mauled the Midgets 8-1 in Estherville.

The visitors went 5-1 in singles action.

Spirit Lake boys track wins 10th Lakes Conference crown

Spirit Lake’s boys track team dominated the rest of the field at the 2022 Lakes Conference Championships held Thursday, May 5 at Spencer. The Indians tallied 188.5 points — besting runner-up Spencer by 78 — while earning 15 top-two finishes and crowning 12 champions on the day.

It was the 10th conference track championship in program history.

Spirit Lake Park’s girls track team earned a third-place finish at the 2022 Lakes Conference Championships held Thursday, May 5 at Spencer. The Indians totaled 112 points and earned seven top-two finishes — including four championships — on the day.

Boji boys golfers play 18 at Sioux Center

Okoboji’s boys golf team earned an eighth-place finish on the front 9 and placed 10th on the back of a Siouxland Conference meet hosted by Sioux Center on Thursday, May 5. The Pioneers carded a combined round of 182 on the front and a 204 on the back at The Ridge Golf Course.

Okoboji girls golf placed 5th at Hull

Okoboji’s girls golf team earned a fifth-place finish at a meet hosted by Boyden-Hull on Thursday, May 5. The Pioneers carded a combined round of 213 at Rolling Hills Country Club in Hull.

Morgan Elwood led Okoboji with her fourth-place medalist round of 47. Grace Booth (53), Zoey Smith-Stecker (55) and Karli Fife (58) rounded out the Pioneers’ scoring. Jaelyn Jostand carded a 59 on the day.

Spirit Lake’s girls golf team earned a first-place finish at a meet hosted by Unity Christian Thursday, May 5 in Orange City. The Indians carded a combined round of 197 to top runner-up Unity Christian (214) and third-place finisher Western Christian (223) at Landsmeer Golf Club.
