Okoboji baseball managed to squeeze three Siouxland Conference games in last week, earning an 8-6 win over Sibley-Ocheyedan and suffering two losses to Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley and Unity Christian. 

Spirit Lake softball scored five runs each in the third and fifth innings to earn a 10-6 non-conference win at Central Lyon on Tuesday, June 3, their second win of the season. 
“You can just tell our girls are getting more confident in the batter's box,” coach Karli Olsen said. “They're seeing pitches better than at the beginning of the season. It’s really exciting to see these at-bats, and they will help us get ready for conference games.”

Spirit Lake baseball's first loss of the season to Emmetsburg on Friday seemed a distant memory as the Indians secured a critical Lakes Conference 10-9 win over Spencer on Monday, June 9 to stand atop the league ladder alone. 

Competing against 10 other high school teams featuring nearly 150 student athletes, the Okoboji trap shooting team captured the Championship at the Iowa Trap Shooting State Tournament held at Ackley on Saturday, May 31.
The Iowa High School League is part of the USA Clay Target League that started in Minnesota with 30 shooters from 3 teams and in 2025 had 39,000 shooters from 2000 teams in 36 states.

Since 1956, girls tennis has been sanctioned by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU) for competition in the spring. Nearly 70 years later, the sport will take place in the fall in hopes of easing the clutter of spring sports played in Iowa. 

Spirit Lake-Okoboji girls soccer’s nine-game win streak came to a halt with a 9-2 loss at Spencer on Wednesday, May 28 in a Class 2A Region 8 semifinal, ending their 2025 season.

Okoboji softball hosted Sibley-Ocheyedan for a Siouxland Conference game on Monday, June 2, falling to the Generals 13-0 as the Pioneers mustered one hit in five innings. 

Spirit Lake baseball needed 11 innings between two Lakes Conference games to pick up a sweep over Estherville Lincoln Central with a 15-4 win over the Midgets on Tuesday, May 27 and 11-0 at home on Thursday, May 29. 

Spirit Lake softball jumped right into Lakes Conference play in the first week of their 2025 season as Estherville Lincoln Central shut out the Indians 13-0 away on Tuesday, May 27 and 9-0 at home on Thursday, May 30. 

Harris-Lake Park softball hit the road for a War Eagle Conference game at Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn on Friday, May 30, finding an offensive midway through to power the Wolves over the Hawks 8-2. 

Harris-Lake Park, Okoboji and Spirit Lake baseball squared off against one another for the Dickinson County Classic on Saturday, May 31 as the Indians claimed this year’s county crown on their own home turf. 

Spirit Lake sophomore Jaizik Miller hit the greens one last time for the Class 3A State Golf Championship on Monday, May 26, and Tuesday, May 27, at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course in Cedar Falls, coming out five above par to place 15th out of 81 golfers competing. 

Spirit Lake -Okoboji’s Cambrie Kleckner and Sydnee Struecker played in doubles at the Class 1A State Individual Tennis Tournament on Friday, May 30 in Waterloo, finishing 0-2 with competitive matches against some of the top talent the state had to offer. 
“The goal anytime we go into this tournament is the top eight,” coach Bob O’Hara said. “We knew that was going to be tough because we drew the number one seed, Xavier, for the first match.”

Spirit Lake Park-Okoboji-Estherville United soccer traveled to Spencer on Tuesday, May 27 for a Class 3A Substate semifinal, ending their season with a 3-1 loss to the Tigers. 
The Tigers pounced first with a goal in the 26th minutes of the first half. United struggled to get their passing in sync to counterattack and were called for 12 offsides, yet stood firm offensively in the half to hold their hosts to the lone goal in the first 40 minutes.

Harris-Lake Park girls golf concluded its 2025 season with a seventh place finish in the Class 1A Regional Meet on Wednesday, May 21 at Primghar Golf and Country Club.
