The Spirit Lake Park-Okoboji boys soccer team suffered a shutout loss to Unity Christian on Monday, May 6. The Knights defeated SLPO 4-0 in Orange City.

Spirit Lake boys golf places fifth at Lakes Conference tourney

 

Spirit Lake’s boys golf team carded a combined team score of 363 to place fifth at the 2024 Lakes Conference Tournament held Monday, May 6 at Emerald Hills Golf Course in Arnolds Park.

Jaizik Miller led Spirit Lake with his round of 87. Kaleb Johnson shot an 88. Camden DeVos shot an 89. Jake Jacobs shot a 99. Will Graves shot a 100 and Gavin Strouth shot a 102 for Spirit Lake.

Spirit Lake girls golf places third at conference tournament

 

Spirit Lake’s girls golf team placed third at the 2024 Lakes Conference Tournament held Monday, May 6 at Lake Creek Golf Course in Storm Lake. The Indians carded a combined round of 409 to finish two strokes behind runner-up Estherville Lincoln Central (407) and 39 strokes off the pace set by conference champion Spencer (370).

Spirit Lake boys track wraps regular season at Spencer

 

Spirit Lake’s boys track team made one final regular season appearance at a meet hosted by Spencer on Monday, May 6. The Indians earned nine top-three finishes and totaled 76 team points to place fourth overall.

Okoboji girls track competes at E-Hawk Relays

 

Okoboji’s girls track team sent a skeleton crew to the 2024 E-Hawk Relays held Monday, May 6 at Emmetsburg. The Pioneers earned five top-four placings, 21 team points and placed fifth in the team race.

“It was a small group that went today,” Okoboji coach Jacob Evenson said. “It was a chance to see some girls in the opens that haven't had much of a chance to run them, and a last opportunity for some of our JV runners to run one last time this year.”

Harris-Lake Park’s boys track team competed at a meet hosted by Sioux Central on Monday, May 6. The Wolves earned seven top-four finishes and totaled 56 points to place sixth in the team race at Sioux Rapids.

Harris-Lake Park’s girls track team competed at a meet hosted by Sioux Central on Monday, May 6. The Wolves earned four top-four placings and totaled 30 team points to place seventh in Sioux Rapids.

“Was probably the windiest track meet I have ever been at,” Harris-Lake Park coach Matt Mentink said. “Unfortunately, the track meet got called due to lightening before the 1,500-meter run and 4x100-meter relay.”

Spirit Lake’s boys golf team competed at the 2024 Larry Clark Invitational held Saturday, May 4 at Carroll. The Indians carded a combined round of 349 at the tournament hosted by Carroll Kuemper.

Kaleb Johnson led the Indians with his round of 83. Jake Jacobs carded an 88. Jaizik Miller and Cam DeVos both shot an 89. Will Graves shot a 94 and Gavin Strouth shot a 96 for the Indians.

Wolves defeat Hawks in boys golf

 

Harris-Lake Park’s boys golf team earned a home win over Remsen St. Mary’s on Thursday, May 2. The Wolves defeated the Hawks 161 to 177 at Silver Lake Country Club in Lake Park.

Harris-Lake Park’s girls golf team earned a home win over Remsen St. Mary’s on Thursday, May 2. The Wolves defeated the Hawks 213 to 227 at Silver Lake Country Club in Lake Park.

Harris-Lake Park’s Lilli Gunderson led the way, earning first-place medalist honors with her round of 49. Teammate Rylie Wittrock shot a 53 to earn runner-up medalist honors.

The Spirit Lake Park-Okoboji girls soccer team extended its win streak to 10 games with a dominant 8-1 home win over Storm Lake on senior night held Thursday, May 2 at Okoboji High School in Milford.

SLPO boys soccer drops road match to Tornadoes

 

The Spirit Lake Park-Okoboji boys soccer team dropped a road game to Storm Lake on Thursday, May 2. The Tornadoes topped SLPO 4-1 in Storm Lake.

“We had an outstanding second half, defensively,” SLPO coach Alan Ditsworth said. “We controlled the midfield for 20-plus minutes. Struggled once again to find the back of the goal. Nico Barba has come on strong as a center-back defender. He's been a great complement to our speedy, Robert Waterhouse.”

SL-O girls tennis wraps undefeated regular season with win over ELC

 

The Spirit Lake-Okoboji girls tennis team ended its regular season with an unblemished dual record following a narrow road win over rival Estherville Lincoln Central on Thursday, May 2.

SL-O defeated the Midgets 5-4 in Estherville.

Izzie Wycoff, Cambrie Kleckner and Sally Androski earned wins in singles. The doubles teams of Emma Straus and Addison Richter, and Sally Androski and Sydnee Struecker earned wins to seal the victory for SL-O.

SL-O boys tennis sweeps Midgets

 

The Spirit Lake-Okoboji boys tennis team swept rival Estherville Lincoln Central in a home contest held Thursday, May 2. SL-O defeated the Midgets 9-0 at Speier Park in Okoboji.

Alex Profit, Luke Schneider, Evan Beck, Bennett Stecker, JD Schneider and Owen Righagen each earned singles wins.

The doubles teams of Profit and Luke Schneider, Beck and Stecker, and JD Schneider and Will Kleis all earned wins.

Spirit Lake boys golf drops home dual to Wolfpack

 

Spirit Lake’s boys golf team dropped a home dual to Western Christian on Thursday, May 2. The Wolfpack defeated the Indians 319 to 330 at Brooks Golf Club in Okoboji.

Spirit Lake’s Jaizik Miller earned medalist honors with his low round of 74. Kaleb Johnson shot a 79. Jake Jacobs shot an 85. Will Graves and Cam DeVos both shot a 92. Gavin Strouth shot a 95.

Okoboji boys golf places sixth at Sioux Center

 

Okoboji’s boys golf team placed sixth at an 18-hole Siouxland Conference meet hosted by Sioux Center on Thursday, May 2. The Pioneers carded a combined team score of 331 on the day.

RJ Kalsow led the way with his round of 78. Mason Dahms shot an 81. Drew Early shot an 85. Lane Helgeson shot on 87. Elliot Tuttle and Tate Groenweg both shot a 94 for the Pioneers.
