Spirit Lake baseball falls to Sergeant Bluff-Luton

After earning three straight wins over Pocahontas Area, Western Christian and Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire by a combined score of 47-7 last week, Spirit Lake’s baseball team fell to Sergeant Bluff-Luton in a nonconference road contest on Friday, June 3. The Warriors topped the Indians 12-2 in Sergeant Bluff.

No. 14 Indians fall to No. 4 Mustangs in Spirit Lake

In a battle of softball titans, Spirit Lake did not have enough firepower to hang with Newell-Fonda in a nonconference matchup on Friday, June 3. The No. 4 (1A) Mustangs defeated the No. 14 (3A) Indians 5-1 in Spirit Lake.

Pioneers drop home game to Central Lyon

Okoboji’s baseball team saw a late lead slip away yet again in a home loss to Central Lyon on Friday, June 3. The Lions scored 11 runs in the final three innings of a 12-6 win over the Pioneers in Milford.

“This was a tale of two different games,” Okoboji coach Rory Marra said. “We were in control 6-1 in the fifth and then the game flipped and we just couldn’t stop their momentum.”
