Spirit Lake boys track earns runner-up finish at Estherville


Spirit Lake’s boys track team earned a runner-up team finish at the 101st Annual Dick Barrett Relays held Friday, April 14 in Estherville. The Indians had 10 top-three finishes on the day, including four championships, while totaling 116 points to finish just shy of meet champion Algona’s total of 122.

Pioneers place third at Estherville Lincoln Central


Okoboji’s boys track team earned a third-place finish at the 101st Annual Dick Barrett Relays held Friday, Act. 14 in Estherville. The Pioneers notched nine top-three finishes, including two championships, and totaled 89 team points on the day to finish behind champion Algona and runner-up Spirit Lake.

Spirit Lake-Okoboji’s fourth-ranked girls tennis team made quick work of Lakes Conference rival Storm Lake on Thursday, April 13. Despite facing stiff winds, SL-O swept the Tornadoes 9-0 at Speier Park in Spirit Lake.

Spirit Lake Park-Okoboji’s girls soccer team was dominant in home win over Lakes Conference rival Storm Lake on Thursday, April 13. SLP-O earned a 9-0 win over the Tornadoes at the Bedell Family YMCA soccer complex in Spirit Lake.

Spirit Lake-Okoboji’s boys tennis team earned a convincing home win over Estherville Lincoln Central on Monday, April 17. SL-O defeated the Midgets 8-1 at Speier Park in Spirit Lake.

SL-O went 5-1 in singles.

SLPO girls soccer secures back-to-back victories


After earning a win over Storm Lake on Thursday, Spirit Lake Park-Okoboji’s girls soccer team earned its second straight win with a 7-5 home victory over Western Christian on Monday, April 17. SLPO went up 5-0 after one half before holding off the Wolfpack attack in the second.

No. 4 SL-O girls tennis sweeps Midgets


Spirit Lake-Okoboji’s fourth-ranked (1A) girls tennis team earned a 9-0 road sweep over Lakes Conference rival Estherville Lincoln Central on Monday, April 17.

In singles, Catherine Straus defeated Grace Johnson 10-3; Taylor Schneider defeated Jersie Nitchals 10-1; Abbie Oleson defeated Kennedy Paul 10-4; Emma Straus defeated Lily Snyder 10-4; Mikayla Mingus defeated Emily Regalstad 10-5; and Izzie Wycoff defeated Hannah Nitchals 10-2.

SLPO boys soccer suffers road loss to Wolfpack


Spirit Lake Park-Okoboji’s boys soccer team suffered a road loss to fifth-ranked (1A) Western Christian on Monday, April 17. SLPO fell 5-2 to the Wolfpack in Hull.

Caleb Reuter and Kaleb Lee scored goals for SLPO.

Harris-Lake Park boys track team runs well at Armstrong


Harris-Lake Park’s boys track team competed at the Tom Elliott/Jim Godfredsen Relays held Monday, April 17 at North Union High School in Armstrong. The Wolves earned four top-three finishes and totaled 52 team points on the day.

Okoboji girls golfers place fourth at Rock Valley


Okoboji’s girls golf team earned a fourth-place team finish at a Siouxland Conference meet held Monday, April 17 at Rock Valley Golf Club in Rock Valley. The Pioneers carded a combined score of 208 to finish a stroke out of third and 14 strokes behind champion Central Lyon.

“We improved as a team,” Okoboji coach Jeremy Wollenburg said. “Hopefully, we can keep improving as a team and start competing for wins.”

Okoboji boys golf places fifth at Rolling Hills Country Club


Okoboji’s boys golf team earned a fifth-place finish at a Siouxland Conference meet held Monday, April 17 at Rolling Hills Country Club in Hull. The Pioneers shot a combined round of 177 to finish seven strokes out of third and 22 strokes behind champion MOC-Floyd Valley.

No. 4 SL-O girls tennis places fourth at Johnston


Spirit Lake-Okoboji’s fourth-ranked girls tennis team earned a fourth-place finish at a tournament in Johnston on Friday, April 14. SL-O totaled 121 team points to finish behind Columbus Catholic (165), Johnston (135) and West Des Moines Valley (129). Waukee had 81 points and Dallas Center Grimes had 44.

Spirit Lake-Okoboji’s boys tennis team dropped a home dual to Sergeant Bluff-Luton on Friday, April 14. The Warriors edged SL-O 5-4 at Speier Park in Spirit Lake.

Spirit Lake-Okoboji’s boys tennis team earned a convincing Lakes Conference road victory over Storm Lake on Thursday, April 13. SL-O topped the Tornadoes 7-2 on a windy day in Storm Lake.

SL-O went 4-2 in singles.

Okoboji girls place third at Spencer


Okoboji’s girls track team earned a third-place finish at the 2023 Spencer Girls Invitational held Thursday, April 13 at Dale Norton Field in Spencer. The Pioneers totaled seven top-three finishes, including three championships, while collecting 76.25 team points on the day.
