Spirit Lake’s girls basketball team was in the hunt for a Lakes Conference title heading into the final week of the regular season, but the No. 10 (3A) Indians came up just short following back-to-back gut-wrenching losses to rival Estherville Lincoln Central last week, including a 62-40 road loss to the Lakes Conference champion and No. 1-ranked (3A) Midgets on Friday, Feb. 2.
