Spirit Lake junior Brandon Hughes earned all-state honors to lead the Indians at the 2023 Iowa High School Cross Country Championships held Saturday, Oct. 28 at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course in Fort Dodge.

Hughes, in his third trip to the state meet, placed eighth in 16 minutes, 19.5 seconds and helped the Indians to an 11th-place finish in Class 2A.
