Spirit Lake man’s murder case still lingers in court five years later

A judge has once again granted a Spirit Lake man more time to spell out why the court should reconsider his second-degree murder conviction — but the latest Sioux County District Court filings close the door on any future delays.

Attorneys in the State vs. Gregg Eugene Winterfeld case will meet at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, to set a trial date and confirm plans for witnesses or evidence that may be used in a potential trial.
