Two separate fires broke out on April 6 near the Diamond Lake township.

At 12:30 p.m., Spirit Lake Community Fire Department was called to a controlled burn that had gotten out of hand, and was threatening to burn a residential structure on 140th Street. Crews quickly extinguished the fire, preventing any damage to the structure and the people dwelling inside.
