Democratic gubernatorial candidate Rob Sand opened his Okoboji town hall Monday night by asking Republicans and independents in the crowd to raise their hands, then led the audience in singing "America the Beautiful." 

He did this to prove a point — that the people work better together than fighting amongst themselves.
