Ryan Nielsen, 22, of Arnolds Park passed away at his home in Arnolds Park on Thursday, June 13, 2024.
A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 22, at the Downtown Church in Milford. Visitation was one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Burial was held in the Lake View Gardens Cemetery in Okoboji. Arrangements are under the direction of the Robinson Funeral Home in Spirit. Ryan Joseph Nielsen was born on July 16, 2001, in Spokane, Washington, to Drew Nielsen and April Nielsen. He graduated from Spirit Lake High School. Ryan had an eye for fashion and was a skilled clothing designer proficient in sewing and styling. He created his own LLC, Self-Obsessed. Before he passed, he was preparing for his first clothing release.
In his free time, he enjoyed listening to music, painting, hanging out with his sisters, and designing and sewing clothes. He deeply loved his cat Moonchi. He also enjoyed going out with family and friends, going thrifting, taking nature walks, sitting by the water, and biking. He had a passion for new things, he loved taking trips to new places and trying things he had never experienced. Ryan held a deep love for the arts.
Left to cherish his memory are his father Drew Nielsen of Spirit Lake; mother April Nielsen of Arnolds Park; sisters Faith and Paige Nielsen both of Cedar Falls and his twin brothers Ray and Kevin Portello of Lynnwood, Washington.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William and Vicki Nelson, paternal grandparents Marc Nielsen and Maralyn Williams, aunt Barb Goodwin, uncle Kevin Goodwin and his aunt Katherine Nielsen.
