Let's explore additional resource officers before arming school staff

The Spirit Lake School Board's Sept. 12 meeting was attended by all five board members, the superintendent, the board’s attorney, several faculty and administrative staff. It was their unanimous attempt to pass a school policy that would allow 10 school personal to carry concealed guns on school property. They would have 40 hours of training versus a police officer who receives many hundreds of hours in training for crisis situations.
