A celebration of life visitation to honor the life and memory of William Updike Sr., age 71, of Lakefield will be held from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15 at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Jackson. Military Honors will follow the visitation and will be provided by American Legion Post #130, VFW Post #900 of Jackson, American Legion Post #4, VFW Post #4743 of Lakefield.

A gathering for Vaughn Coleman, 73, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024 at Milford Community Center followed at 2 p.m. by a celebration of life service. A visitation for Evonne Duhn, 94, of Spirit Lake, will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. A private family graveside will be at Lakeview Gardens Cemetery.

A funeral service for Robin Kolpin, 68, of Spirit Lake was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024 at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Robin passed away Aug. 28, 2024 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Turner Jenness Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Vernon Wittler passed away on Aug. 14, 2024 at Accura Healthcare in Spirit Lake. He was born in Cherokee, Iowa on May 16, 1940 and lived in the Sutherland area until 1946 when the family moved to a farm in Spirit Lake. Upon graduating from high school in 1958, he joined the Marine Corps, serving in California, Okinawa and North Carolina. He was honorably discharged in 1961, attaining the rank of Corporal.

A service for Patricia “Pat” Forbes, age 78, of Lake Park, was held Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church in Lake Park.  Interment was at Union Cemetery in Harris. Pat passed away on Aug. 19, 2024 in Centerville, South Dakota. Turner Jenness Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

A service for George Morris, 91, of Okoboji, will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024 at First Lutheran Church in West Okoboji. Visitation begins at 9:30 at the church.

George passed away Aug. 12, 2024, at Accura Healthcare.

Fireman First Class Everett Cecil Titterington will be laid to rest at 10:45 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 9, 2024 at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California with full military rites.

Titterington was born in Terril on Aug. 25, 1920 and grew up in Milford.

Wood E. Anderson, age 86, of Mason City, passed away at his home on Friday, Aug. 23, 2024.

Michele Lynn “Mikki” Chew was born in Council Bluffs on June 27, 1972 to Tim and Nancy (Hansen) Chew. She passed away unexpectedly in her sleep of natural causes on Aug. 16, 2024.

She graduated from Lewis Central High School in 1990 where she participated on the swimming team and served as a class officer. She attended the University of Nebraska in Omaha while working as a secretary in the Council Bluffs/Omaha area.
