Local readers to present ‘The Howe Letters - A Local Treasure Discovered’

The Howe Letters, recently discovered by Dickinson County Museum volunteer Kathy McNeill, share personal observations and thoughts about the earliest days of life in the area. Beginning with the rush to plat a county seat in Spirit Lake, to the Spirit Lake Massacre, to the siege days of 1862, these letters highlight the hardships and dreams of those who first called Dickinson County home.

Compost available for the public

The Dickinson County Regional Collection Center in Milford turns last year’s green waste into valuable compost. Those interested in compost for plants and gardens may stop and pick some up this spring.
