Harris-Lake Park boys golf defeats HMS in road dual

 

Harris-Lake Park’s boys golf team earned a 20-stroke road victory over Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn on Tuesday, April 9. The Wolves defeated the Hawks 172 to 192 at Meadowbrook Golf and Country Club in Hartley.

Caden Vant Hul earned first-place medalist honors with his low round of 41.

Seth Goodell shot a 42. Lucas Gunderson shot a 43. Caleb Hemphill shot a 46. Duane Ingham shot a 47. Wyatt Wittrock shot a 49 for the Wolves.

Wolves top Hawks in girls golf battle

 

Harris-Lake Park’s girls golf team battled Harley-Melvin-Sanborn in a dual on Tuesday, April 9. The Wolves carded a combined round of 236 at Meadowbrook Golf and Country Club in Hartley. The Hawks did not have a team score.

Harris-Lake Park’s Madeline Greve led the way with her third-place round of 57.

Lilli Gunderson shot a 58. Rylie Wittrock shot a 59. Danika deBoom and Cora Niemeier both carded rounds of 62. Gracie Gunderson shot a 63 for the Wolves.

Okoboij boys golf places third at conference meet in Rock Rapids

 

Okoboji’s boys golf team placed third at a Siouxland Conference meet held Tuesday, April 9. The Pioneers carded a combined round of 156 to finish 13 strokes off the pace set by meet champion MOC-Floyd Valley.

Mason Dahms, RJ Kalsow, Lane Helgeson and Griffin Kasperbauer each carded rounds of 39 for the Pioneers. Tate Groenewg shot a 43 and Drew Early shot a 45.

Okoboji girls golf competes at Larchwood

 

Okoboji’s girls golf team took a skeleton crew to a Siouxland Conference meet held Tuesday, April 9 at Larchwood Golf Course in Larchwood.

Kahla Peters shot a 52, Morgan Elwood shot a 53 and Jaelyn Jostand shot a 55 for the Pioneers.

“We played well for most of the meet but had a couple of big numbers that really hurt the girls’ scores,” Okoboji coach Jeremy Wollenburg said.


 

SLPO girls soccer blanks Sioux Center in win

 

The Spirit Lake Park-Okoboji girls soccer team secured a third consecutive win and a second straight shutout with a home victory over Sioux Center on Monday, April 8. SLP-O defeated the Warriors 3-0 at Okoboji High School in Milford.

SLPO jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one half and tacked on an insurance goal in the second.

SLPO boys soccer falls to Sioux Center

 

The Spirit Lake Park-Okoboji boys soccer team dropped a road contest to Sioux Center on Monday, April 8. The Warriors topped SLPO 5-0 in Sioux Center.

“We played a very strong first half, keeping it scoreless for 30 minutes,” SLPO coach Alan Ditsworth said. “We continue to struggle for goal-scoring opportunities. They were a very strong defensive team.”

SL-O girls tennis earns crucial conference win over rival Spencer

 

The Spirit Lake-Okoboji girls tennis team earned a crucial victory over rival Spencer on Monday, April 8. SL-O topped the Tigers 5-3 at Speier Park in Okoboji.

“Considering how inexperienced we are, our players are performing incredibly well,” Spirit Lake-Okoboji coach Bob O’Hara said. “This was a huge win for the team. Every player gave her full effort.”

In singles, Emma Straus, Izzie Wycoff, Sydnee Strucker and Sally Androski each earned wins for SL-O.

SL-O boys tennis dominates rival Tigers

The Spirit Lake-Okoboji boys tennis team earned a dominant Lakes Conference road win over rival Spencer on Monday, April 8. SL-O defeated the Tigers 8-1 in Spencer.

In singles, Alex Profit, Luke Schneider, Evan Beck, Bennett Stecker and JD Schneider picked up wins for SL-O. The visitors went 3-0 In doubles, as Profit and Luke Schneider, Beck and Stecker, and JD Schneider and Will Klies earned wins for SL-O.

Spirit Lake girls golf falls to Midgets

 

Spirit Lake’s girls golf team dropped a Lakes Conference road dual to Estherville Lincoln Central on Monday, April 8. The Midgets defeated the Indians 217-202 at Estherville Golf Course.

Sydney Hunt led Spirit Lake with her low round of 50. Emma Whiting and Bella Marx both carded rounds of 55. Morgan Fine shot a 57. Lauren Borthwick and Abi Slater both shot a 70 for the Indians.

Wolves defeat Royals by one stroke in Lake Park

 

Harris-Lake Park’s boys golf team escaped a home dual meet with War Eagle Conference foe MMCRU with a win by the slimmest of margins on Monday, April 8. The Wolves defeated the Royals 173-174 at Silver Lake Country Club in Lake Park.

Caden Vant Hul led Harris-Lake Park with his first-place medalist round of 40. Wyatt Wittrock shot a 43 to place third. Lucas Ahrenstorff shot a 44. Seth Goodell shot a 46. Duane Ingham shot a 49 and Caleb Hemphill shot a 53 for the Wolves.
