Santa's Village draws crowds to downtown Spirit Lake

White flakes skittered through the skies Saturday, as the first few activities kicked off during Santa's Village in Spirit Lake. The Spirit Lake Chamber of Commerce's annual event drew crowds to the city's downtown area despite some gusty winter winds. Families and friends mingled among a number of local businesses into the afternoon, as they took photos with costumed seasonal celebrities, created Christmas crafts and enjoyed a variety of games and treats for the youngsters. Chamber officials said the yearly celebration also serves as an opportunity for the public to connect with local businesses they may not typically visit.
