Halloween sweets up and down the streets
It seemed Mother Nature needed to hit the streets as well during the Spirit Lake Chamber of Commerce's annual candy walk in downtown Spirit Lake. Fluffy flakes drifted down Saturday afternoon as costumed youngsters made their way from business to business in search of sweet treats. The weekend flurry didn't deter the downtown trick-or-treaters as many attempted to grab handfuls of candy while bundled up in thick coats and mittens. Some of the participating locations also offered activities, such as a photo shoot or haunted tunnel, for visitors to enjoy.
Freezing temperatures persisted on Halloween, and wind gusts added to the seasonal chill earlier in the day, but costumes and candy were back in full force that afternoon in downtown Milford. Clusters of festively clad families and friends took part in the Milford Commercial Club's yearly trick or treat event. Visitors stopped by numerous Milford businesses, each marked with a special pumpkin sign to help guide trick-or-treaters, as they filled their bags and buckets bit by bit. (Photos by Seth Boyes)
