Lake Park Farmers Appreciation Days 2023
Mother Nature didn't rain on Lake Park's parade Saturday, but some other events didn't stay so dry. The 40th annual Lake Park Farmers Appreciation Days kicked off Friday afternoon, with the bulk of the festivities taking place Saturday. The Harris-Lake Park Dance Team hosted a 5K fundraiser Saturday morning, and multiple waves of runners, walkers and at least two young cyclists headed out from the starting line early that morning. The weekend's parade made its way up Market Street later that morning. Several pieces of large farm machinery and a number of community floats waves to spectators. The Lake Park Fire Department also hosted its annual fundraiser meal, while United Community Bank offered free watermelon and children's activities were ready and waiting in City Park. The traditional mud volleyball tournament got underway before storm clouds brought some much needed rain to the area after a prolonged dry spell. Some competitors in the shin-deep mud pits sarcastically complained that the rainfall was creating slippery conditions on the court. Other events on the weekend's schedule included a street dance with the band Tripwire on Saturday night and the 15th annual Farmers Appreciation Tractor Ride on Sunday afternoon.
