Public takes in tires and tillers during Saturday shows
Hoods and trunks were proudly popped, and even a few flags were planted during the annual University of Okoboji Corvette Club's annual Vettes in the Park. Corvette owners cruised their treasured machines over to Arnolds Park Amusement Park Saturday morning to put them in park and put them on display for the public. Vintage Corvettes as well as several more modern models lined Lake Street down to Berkley Bedell State Pier, and even more of the iconic autos taxied out across the grassy Preservation Plaza.
The morning's display once again coincided with the yearly antique and classic boat show organized by the Jerry Dyhrkopp Iowa Great Lakes Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society. The classic wooden boats dock just west of the state pier. The public strolled up and down several of the public docks to get a closer look at the boats, while organizers scurried about tying rope lines and helping dock several of the antique watercraft. The show also included a boat parade later that afternoon, as the wooden boats formed a procession and passed under the causeway bridge which connects the cities of Arnolds Park and Okoboji.
