Spirit Lake seniors cross stage Sunday

Spirit Lake School administrators told the class of 2023 they were an exceptional group who had provided staff with many life-long memories. The district conferred diplomas on 122 seniors Sunday afternoon in the high school gymnasium. Student speakers Maggie McKim and Sarah Gulick encouraged their classmates to treasure their shared experiences, remember how to have fun, approach life's problems with questions and be the one who changes the situation when they find those answers inadequate. A number of seniors were featured soloists during the class' performance of Scotty McCreery's "Five more minutes." After turning their tassels — and tossing their mortar boards — the class of 2023 made their way to the high school commons, where they were congratulated by the gathered crowd. (Photos by Seth Boyes)
