Riders go full throttle during vintage snowmobile drags

The rumble of engines could be heard echoing across the southern portion of East Lake Okoboji on Saturday. Racers tuned their machines as they prepared to take to the lake's frozen surface for the Okoboji Vintage Snowmobile Races. The competition welcomed competitors in dozens of racing classes, as the sleek machines struck out across the icy track. Several spectators that day also sprung into action to rescue an elderly man when his Jeep fell through the ice near the bridge between East and West Lake Okoboji — see elsewhere in this edition for the full story.
