Nicholas Freymann, 82, of Sioux City, formerly of Le Mars, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Whispering Creek Senior Living in Sioux City.

Mass of Christian Burial took place on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at All Saints Catholic Parish - St. Joseph Church in Le Mars. Father Bruce Lawler will celebrate Mass. Visitation the evening before began at 4 p.m. on Monday, June 3, at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars, followed by a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Visitation at St. Joseph’s Church resumed on Tuesday until Mass at 11 a.m. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars at www.rexwinkelfh.com.

Nicholas A. Freymann, the son of Albert and Josephine (Gengler) Freymann, was born on April 22, 1942, in Le Mars. Known throughout his life by family and friends as “Nick”, he attended school in Le Mars and graduated from Gehlen Catholic High School. He furthered his education at Westmar College in Le Mars where he graduated with his B.S. in Accounting. Following college, Nick worked for the State of Iowa as a Field Auditor. He retired after 35 years with the State of Iowa.

Nick was a member of All Saints Catholic Parish in Le Mars. After retirement, he enjoyed summering at his home in Spirit Lake and wintering at his home in Cocoa, Florida. He was a wonderful and generous host to a continuous stream of family and friends in both places. He loved traveling throughout the United States and around the world, his favorite being Tibet. He also enjoyed fishing and tending to his gardens.

Survivors include several cousins, including: Karen Hoss (Darrell) of Sioux City, Pat Webb, Dorothy Lehmkuhl and Evelyn Crowder (Oklahoma); his “nieces and nephews”: Julie Hoss, Gregory Hoss (Lars Etzkorn), Katie Cullo (Len), Siobhan Murray, Michael Murray (Vi), Brendan Murray, Michael Zenkovich (Alice), Susan Knudsen (Ed), Kathy Mueller (Kent) and John Zenkovich; Donnie Koopman, Anne Koopman, Theresa Koopman; and Nancy Mullally of Le Mars and her family: Jason (April) and Khloe Mullally, Raymond (Dalia) and Noah Mullally, Makayla Christian (Christopher) and Mya, and Mitchell Mullally (Skylar).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Josephine Freymann; his aunt, Armella Reisch; and good friend, Ron Mullally; and many other relatives.
