SLFD expects new truck to make for more effective emergency responses

It's an old tradition, but one that Spirit Lake Fire Chief Pat Daly said is new to his crew.

About a dozen of Spirit Lake's volunteer firefighters placed their hands on the front bumper of the department's newest rescue vehicle last week as they collectively pushed the truck into the firehouse. Daly said the push-in tradition likely came about during the era of horse-drawn fire brigades, who pushed their equipment inside after releasing the horses.
