A Sheldon man has been accused of sexually abusing a woman the morning of New Year's Eve in a home on the east side of Big Spirit Lake.

Authorities charged 22-year-old Mauro Alejandro Dominguez Gandara with third-degree sexual abuse in late January after being informed earlier that month of a possible incident which took place Dec. 31, 2022, in the 13000 block of 253rd Avenue in Orleans — a Spirit Lake Police report listed the offense as forcible rape.
