The new Spirit Lake Public Library Director Amy Dissmeyer sees libraries as more than simple book repositories; they're community connectors in an age of isolation. 

Dissmeyer took the helm after 16 years of her previous library positions in Nebraska and Colorado. She was drawn to the smaller community atmosphere and setting of the Iowa Great Lakes Region. The previous director, Cynthia Davis, announced her retirement back in December.
